Technology

http://petapixel.com/2015/02/09/coelux-artificial-sunlight-thats-good-enough-fool-cameras-brain/

Artificial lighting technology is installed into each of the rooms to act as lighting. This will allow us to determine different levels of light.

I did to a lot more exploration into technology although the concept does not call for such high tec.
Some ideas explored are on these web sites.

Technology
-directional/locational sound

-motion sensors to activate effects etc, general electronics etc

-Transparent LED screens

Exlamplers

http://www.serpentinegalleries.org/explore (This whole page was an inspiration to my final design)

I found inspiration in other examples of expedition design. One such is Sou Fujimoto.
Why?:- the viewer is taken on a joinery though the expedition. Free to wander and discover whats around the corner- Materiality is clean line and hints at a sold form, but is not.

I am taken by the idea of having having the public enter the expo. To be able to walk around its insides and experience a different world.

Emotions

The Driver of this project was the adaption of emotions. First identifying them and then creating models to represent them.

Main Emotions explored in final design:
- Fear. Child does not know where they are going or what is going to happen.
- Sadness. Fear invokes sadness, loss of childhood, being mistreated.

-Information/lack of- . Educating the public about the cause.

Idea Generation

One of the ideas on layout that was developed

Inspiration

Over the Trimester i have collected different inspiration from a range of places, this is just an example.
I have also collected images from Pinterest.

Looking at the emotions evoked, a concept was developed, to create a installation that mimics the children's experience and life. From start to finish.

Things in my everyday life have sparked ideas for this designs some are as followed:

Escape rooms:

I went to one of these with friends in melbourne. We needed to work as a team to escape a jail in my experience. The way the rooms were set up, i was hungry to escape feeling that i was going to be killed in the process. The story was rich and enticing., This idea of making a choose and finding your way will help my experience explain the journey of the child solider's.

We failed getting out of the room, but were very close.

7D Experience
http://www.7dcinema.com.au/tasmania-hobart-7dcinema/

My weekend away in Tazzie, was met with the most terrifying experience in the 7D experience.
Its like the rides at movie world just at lot more money has gone into its production.
Choosing a scary video to start, you are guided and sat in a chair, buckled in and 3d glasses prepped.
The graphics are popping out at you as you are in the position of a little girl, running though an old hose being chased by monster zombies.
You are cornered and cock coaches climb up you legs in the film, as in you seat something whips at your lest and bursts or air make it actually feel like there are bugs climbing up your seat.
The monster gets close enough to screech in your face as bits of spit fly from his mouth , what i assume is water flys onto your face.
This made me think of the different elements and technology available for me to use. I may not get this technical as it is a hard issue for people to digest, allowing people to go at their own pace will result in more compassion.
I was so scared in this experience i needed to close my eyes and pretend i was not there, which is not like me as i am a  horror movie buff. But the nature was so confronting, i felt so helpless, much like the child solider's, a poor comparison. This sparked my ideas to re create the different experiences of the children.

Project AK47

The Video above is a great introduction to the Project AK47 cause.

Brand Statement:

Child soldiers are exposed to every kind of modern day slavery.  This includes, child labor, sex trafficking, and subjection to war.
These children are taken or in some cases purchased from their families by one of the many opposition groups or rebel gangs. They are starved, forced to serve as cooks, prostitutes, or even as a human minesweeper.
Child Trafficking has been called the cruelest form of modern day slavery.
These children loose their identities.

Project AK47 work to save children in Mexico, Burma and Philippines. They strive to restore their childhoods.

This is a confronting issue. A few years ago in my high school, people would joke about 'Kony', back then i wasn't sure what it was about, my understanding was tat a man would cut off the hands of children and make them be solider's....
I did more research into this rebel gang.

Above is a very powerful piece of writing to explain the brutality of the Koney movement, only on of the different rebel gangs training child solider's.

Growing up in a country town, when this was happening, people would laugh and meme were circulated, showing me now just how uneducated australians are on this matter. We would never laugh about the white colonizations of aborigines, so why were the kids laughing about this? some examples i grew up with, makes me very sad that these were the circle memes of my country town. Never was it punished or were we educated on the matter. I hope that is design will help educate the melbourne/world on child solider's:
